Aristotle once wrote that “happiness
is a state of activity” in other words whether we are seeking lifelong
satisfaction or a few moments of good cheer, we have got to move forward..
In a daily chit chat with my
colleague in college bus, she asked ,” what constitutes happiness? The thing which makes us happy some time back
doesn’t give happiness to us now? Priorities change so as circumstances’? Well indeed
she was right and was asking some very valid question’s, because we humans are
like that only, our happiness is never
limited to certain things….it keeps on changing.
What can makes everyone happy? Is
it money? Property? Different partners? Solitude
or what?? Sometimes my mind says if I will have it ,I will be the happiest one, but then after
attaining that certain goal, more new wishes and goals comes in between and
then that longing for happiness always remains at the back foot.
So after thinking and observing hard,
I have come to a conclusion that happiness is a state of mind, the more
contented you are, the happier you are… gratitude is the magic stick of
happiness.
For me particularly, I have 5
things that ensure me of my happiness and well-being and they are:-
Value your relationships
I have always felt that the
highest levels of happiness are always found with the most stable, longest and
most contented relationships. Fly as much as you want, explore as many people
as you want but at least you will always end up frustrated with your
relationships because of the instability. It’s a well-known fact that people with
stable relationships always end up better than unstable ones. Think hard before
starting one but once in, never look back. And I know as long as I value my
relationships with my loved ones, there is nothing to look for...love in any
form is the essence of living.
Express Yourself
Singing aloud, talking to a
stranger, raising your hand to someone are all indicators of a happy well-being.
The more outgoing we are, the happier we feel. Extrovert people are always good
at managing their stress level…. they come out quickly from every difficulty. The
more you express yourself, the more
clear and stable your relationships will be.
Spend money for others
I have practically observed it,
the more you spend on others, and the more you get it for yourself. Do note
whenever you share your money with others; you will be much happier at the end
of the day. It doesn’t matter how much you spent but what boost the spirit is, how
you spend it.
Focus on the positive
The more we think on the positive
side of our life, the more satisfied we feel with ourselves. There are so many
things to look for and love to..we all are blessed with something better , we
just need an eye to look for that blessing and feel gratitude instead of
complaining.
Love yourself
I have always believed that I can
love and respect other human beings only when I love and respect myself.. We
all should possess a healthy self-image… and this is the most important part of
happiness… if you can’t be happy with your own self, just forget that any other
person can make you happy….
Can’t say about others but I know
for me at least these four points constitute my happiness for sure n for many
of you too J
Stay healthy and happy and
cherish everything that you have because somewhere there is definitely someone
who lacks what you have. There is no one in this world who has nothing to love
for.... we all have a fair amount of things we want, what we need is just an
eye to look for that thing and be grateful for it.
May your life be always full of
love and good health and you all smiles throughout your life.

ReplyDeleteGreat piece after long.....ur thoughts have been very clear when u wrote this....i cud feel this one......but i disagree with the "SPEND MONEY ON OTHERS" thingy.....if u have to spend money on others to make them happy u r duping them into believing tht money is happiness....i believe what you where trying to say was "SPEND TIME AND ENERGY" for others.....now tht wud be apt.... It would also be apt to quote Mr.Jobs here -"stay foolish stay hungry"...thts how i found my happiness.
